Building is my greatest passion. I love to know how things go together and how to make everyday things, things that people depend on, that much better. I have a strong belief in building for for the future, building things that last and that are beautiful. I have a strong belief that we can build responsibly while not breaking the bank, that we can do the right thing based on what your needs are. These are things that I have spent my life, so far, learning.
I grew up working with my puttering grandfather and my father in the garage, I learned about the beauty of tools and what you could accomplish with a well cared for set of them. I learned in those summer days that things could always be fixed and that the idea of throwing things away without at least trying to fix it was a sin. Maybe this reflects on my family's tendencies towards frugality, but I like to think that I was learning how to save the world.
In my teens, I worked with my stepfather who was a licensed electrician. Working with him I learned alot about what life was like on a job site - communications, efficiency, building materials and time management. It was here that I learned that you could actually make a decent, respectable career out of building things. I received my bachelors degree at the University of California at Santa Cruz in American History, during this process I worked with many local builders and learned the ins and outs of running a successful building company. I learned that the best tool you can posses is a the ability foster healthy relationships with clients. I started working full time in construction when I moved to the Bay Area from Santa Cruz in 2004.
These days I hope to further my skills and my building education to maintain the trajectory previously established. Like I said above, I love building, and look forward assisting your with your projects.
